The Chai Cancer Care charity hosted this wonderful spa day on 23rd May at a lovely residence in North London. I had been asked to do Galvanic Spa Facial testers for the ladies attending. We were guided up to the room in which we were working (my colleague was offering antioxidant scans) and it was gorgeous!

Within minutes we were set up and ready to go. Each floor was assigned a receptionist who booked the ladies in for treatments with each therapist. From the outset it was really the best organised event that I have ever worked at. The day was hugely popular and the atmosphere was that of warmth and concern for others around. There were a number of therpists and treatements being offered as well as the Galvanic Facials including: Manicures, Pedicures, Threading, Make Up Styling, Life coaching, Massage, Reiki, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and also Tennis and Yoga workshops. In addition there were several celebrity workshops including nutrition by Ian Marber (founder of the Food Doctor with Vicki Edgson), Matt Roberts, personal trainer to the stars, NLP and Lifecoach Robbie Steinhouse, Pilates by Alan Herdman and Hairstyling by Nicky Clarke himself.

Half way through the day, the ladies broke for a sumptuous and deliciously healthy lunch loaded with fresh fruits, vegetables, salad, pulses and fish. You could really tell that the utmost care and attention had been given to ensuring that every item on the menu could be considered supportive of the body’s natural defenses. The chilled raw chocolates topped the meal off perfectly!

Of course the most important presentation of the day was the Chai Presentation which encapsulated the day’s purpose, to raise money for the charity whose services include counselling, therapies, complementary therapies, advocacy & advice, medical outpatient rehabilitation and palliative care service, groups & activities and home support.

I’d like to thank Karen, Ruth and countless other ladies who made this event such a success and raise, I understand, around £30,000 for those being treated for and recovering from cancer and their families.
